POIDB is a community maintained Point of Interest (POI) Database that currently covers the whole of Australia.
So what can you do with POI data? The most common use for POI data is to download POI Groups and upload them as 'custom' groups into your GPS device. But you do not need to have a GPS device to get value from POIDB as you can use the website the various types of POI available in a location.
To get you started you can search or browse the existing Groups. Perhaps you may want to look at the new Groups or those that have been Recently updated. If you want to see what POI is available in a certain location then you can enter is a suburb in the destination section.
What's in the Pipeline?
We want to thank our members for sending through new/updated POI files and we want to let you know what large POI files we are currently working on. These files includes Public Toilets, BP Australia, Coles Express, Coles Supermarkets, Red Light Cameras, Fixed Speed Cameras, Hungry Jacks (WA), KFC (WA), Cash Converters and School Zones. As soon as we have merged these files into the POIDB - they will be available for download.
If you have a list of locations (with addresses or coordinates) that you think will be of benefit to others please upload this file using our POI upload page.
